Today, Fatshark Games announced Vermintide, a first person shooter/melee fighter for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Set in the world of Warhammer’s End Times, Vermintide is a co-op fight-for-your-life against swarms of the rat-faced Skaven.
“Combining gritty combat with cooperative multiplayer action, Vermintide will provide the player with a completely new perspective of the Warhammer Fantasy universe, through the eyes of the heroes they play,” said Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark. “Staying true to the fantasy lore, with familiar foes and locations, we look forward to winning the hearts of enthusiasts and newcomers with this new take on the Warhammer story”.
It’s slated for the second half of 2015, and, true to my Games Workshop roots, I’ll be covering it.
It occurs to me that there are going to be so damn many Games Workshop franchise games this year that it might require it’s own Top Ten list in December. Seeing that the license is being tossed out to a ton of different developers like hard candy at a Shriner’s parade, we can count on some rubber-banding quality. We’ll see how it goes–at this rate, we’ll have fifty Games Workshop games a month in 2016.
